COPY-Rod and Gun is now accessible to people of all ages and abilities
Eau Claire (WQOW) - Summer has a way of ushering people to the park; but in Eau Claire, not all parks have been accessible to people of all abilities.Rod and Gun, a park located along half moon lake, has corrected this issue with a cement path. Several months ago, the only way one could get to the park was by taking a long set of stairs, downhill. This made it nearly impossible for people using wheel chairs to access the park safely.
"But the disabled community in whole, we want to be able to do anything a person without a disability is. Why not have everybody, disabled of any kind, enjoy this beautiful park," says Jason Endres, an Eau Claire park user.
The cement path isn't the only improvement the park made. Rod and Gun also re-did their stairs, put in new restrooms, and a parking lot. All other renovations should be finished in two weeks. The total cost for the improvements was nearly half a million dollars.
