Jackson County man pleads guilty in crash involving several vehicles, death of Good Samaritan

Jackson County (WQOW) - An area man pleaded guilty to a fifth plus offense drunk driving charge in a crash that involved several vehicles and the death of Good Samaritan Wednesday in court.

Investigators said Brandon Rave, who is from Black River Falls, was drunk when he pulled out to pass several slow moving vehicles on a Jackson County highway in the summer of 2014. 

Witnesses estimated he was going approximately 100 mph when he sideswiped one of the cars, then hit a boat and trailer being towed by an SUV. Rave's car burst into flames. Witnesses also said a Good Samaritan stopped to help put out the fire, then collapsed and later died. 

Rave faced 15 charges involved in the incident. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2, 2016 for sentencing.

Jackson County (WQOW) - An area man is facing more than a dozen charges for a crash that involved several vehicles...and in a tragic twist, a Good Samaritan who stopped to help the driver, ending up dying at the scene.

Investigators say Brandon Rave, who's from Black River Falls, was drunk last month when he pulled out to pass several slow moving vehicles on a Jackson County highway.

Witnesses estimated he was going up to 100 miles an hour when he sideswiped one of the cars, then hit a boat and trailer being towed by an SUV. Rave's car burst into flames. Witnesses told investigators a Good Samaritan stopped to help put out the fire, then collapsed and later died.

Rave is now charged with 15 crimes, including numerous counts of recklessly endangering safety and fourth offense drunk driving. He scheduled to be in court Tuesday.
