MADISON (WKOW) --- The UW-Madison Police Department took a 25-year-old UW student to detox early Friday with a dangerously high BAC.
Officers found him alone, stumbling, with bloodshot eyes and smelling of intoxicants in the Lake Street parking ramp at 2:15 a.m. A UW-Madison Police release says the students preliminary blood alcohol content was .338 and so he was taken to detox for safety reasons.
UWPD Chief Susan Riseling wants to remind students about the dangers of over consuming alcohol.
“This is a serious issue — not only on our campus, but on campuses across the country,” Riseling said. “We're not talking about just a couple drinks here — we're talking about deadly levels of alcohol being consumed.”
UW Police say, take control of your night and own your own Wisconsin Experience — if you choose to drink, please do so legally, in moderation, and take care of your fellow Badgers. If a friend needs help — call for help, and don't leave them alone.
