Eau Claire (WQOW) - This morning hundreds laced up and headed to Carson Park for the 2nd annual Biggest Loser Run-Walk.
About 2000 people participated in the event, which is down about 1000 from last year. Participants could do a half marathon or a 5K. They were also given the option to run or walk. It's a race designed for people of all ages and fitness levels. The motive behind it all is to provide the Eau Claire area with an opportunity to get active and promote health in the community.
"The Biggest Loser Run-Walk promotes, you know health. It comes from the biggest loser series and it's about doing something you haven't done before in relation to weight loss. A lot of the people here are success stories," says Bobby Saleem, Season 15, Biggest Loser, 2nd Runner-Up.
Around $12,000 was raised at this year's event. That money will go toward the Eau Claire YMCA, Kid's Fit Foundation, and the Eau Claire Children's Theater. The Biggest Loser plans to be back again next year.
