Eau Claire (WQOW)- Some local residents are being recognized for their efforts to honor a little boy who drowned, by trying to prevent future drownings.
4-year-old Jacob Achultz drowned in Lake Altoona last fall. Now, Jacob's grandmother Kessea Kahl, his father Garret Kahl, and Jacob's best friend Jacob Krager are set to receive the "Keeping Kids Alive in Wisconsin" award. They're being honored for collecting hundreds of life jackets to be given to children, and providing swimming lessons to dozens of low-income residents.
They'll receive their award next week at a summit in Wisconsin Dells.
