Eau Claire (WQOW) - Outdoor farmers markets have moved indoors and the timing is just right as the first storm of the season hits Eau Claire. And that led to record breaking sales at one area store.
The owner of Just Local Food Co-Op, Karin Kircher, says that weekends are always busy for the store, but this Saturday in particular was unlike the rest. She says that it's typical to get a big rush of customers before a snow storm. She says part of it is that people want comfort food during cold weather, and the other part is that people want to be stocked full of food so they don't have to do much shopping.
"I was just telling my boyfriend that, yeah we should probably stock up, it's going to get really bad,” says Tiffany Adam a CVTC student.
“We just had a really busy day. A lot of customers, a lot of sales and people talking about the weather," says Karin Kircher, the Owner of Just Local Food Co-Op.
Karin believes today will be just as busy as Saturday if not more because of the possibility of school being closed again tomorrow.
