(News Release from Barron County Sheriff's Dept.) On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at 1:21 a.m., a Barron County Sheriff's Deputy stopped a vehicle outside of Chetek. As the deputy was about to exit his vehicle the driver of the stopped vehicle put his vehicle in reverse and backed up ramming the Sheriff's Department vehicle and then fled the area. Approximately a six mile chase ensued with the assistance of the Cameron Police Department and deputies lost sight of the vehicle for a short time and then located the vehicle in the driveway of his residence outside of Cameron with the driver still in it.
The driver, Tyler Grilley, 30 of Cameron, was taken into custody without further incident and is being held in the Barron County Jail on charges of Fleeing, Reckless Endangerment and Operating While Intoxicated causing injury and is awaiting formal charges by the Barron County District Attorney's Office.
The deputy received minor injuries and was seen at Mayo Hospital and released. The Sheriff Department squad car received moderate damage.
