Eau Claire (WQOW) - A lack of funding, hasn't kept Phoenix Park from shining bright this holiday season. In fact, there's talk of even more lights next winter.
18 trees are currently lit up, which will cost the city about $1500. DECI says raising those funds is only about half-way complete. It says they've had lots of support from local businesses as well as donations from community members.
They say the most exciting part has been hearing people's stories and seeing their faces light up as they walk through the park. It's something that's kept them optimistic and inspired plans for next year.
"Ideas have really gotten spurred and what the opportunities here in the park in the wintertime can be, having some activities on the bridge in the winter, maybe some ice sculptures, and maybe an ice bar, there's talk of that, and so we're kind of trying to grow ideas and this is kind of the start of everything," says Salina Heller, the Communications Coordinator with DECI.
DECI hopes to raise the rest of the funds by February. To go to DECI's website click here.
