Semi roll-over closes part of I-94 in Jackson County

Eau Claire (WQOW)- A semi roll-over, then diesel spill, shut down part of I-94 early Monday morning in Jackson County.

It happened just after 5 a.m. in the township of Manchester. The Black River Falls Fire Department was called when a semi rolled onto its side and began leaking fuel. Both west bound lanes were closed and traffic was slowed for several hours.  

According to fire officials the semi was carrying pharmaceuticals.The driver was taken to an area hospital.

It's not clear what caused the crash. The State Patrol is investigating.

At 5:10 AM on Monday December 29, 2014 a crash occurred on I-94 WB at Milemarker 125 in JACKSON County near BLACK RIVER FALLS.

Assisting agencies included Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol SW

Region, Black River Falls Fire , Black River Falls EMS, and Jackson County Highway Department.

The details of the crash are as follows:

This morning the Wisconsin State Patrol Northwest Region Dispatch Center received information from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department that at MM 125 a tractor-trailer unit was on its side in the median and that lane one westbound of I-94 was blocked. Troopers and deputies responded and established a traffic incident management zone protecting the scene. The merchandise transported was pharmaceuticals valued at $13 million. The load was transferred to another trailer on-site and I-94 was cleared for full travel at 2:18 PM.
