Eau Claire (WQOW) - A little light has finally been shed on the dark dangerous conditions of Brackett Avenue at night. Crews have been working since the end of December to get more lights put up on Brackett and Harding.
As we reported earlier, the lack of lighting was concerning to many drivers. It was hard for them to see even the stop signs in front of them. For now, crews are working on just getting the street lights up. By the end of tonight they should have 21 of the 25 streetlights up and running.
“We are excited to have the street lighting to be operational. It should help the motoring traffic, and it's getting us closer to our goal of having the traffic signals and street lighting operational by the end of January,” says Leah Ness, Transportation Engineer.
The second part of the lighting project is the traffic signals. The transportation engineer said those arrived last week. Crews will be working to assemble them next Monday. But we were told it is a process, and they won't operational until the end of January.
The traffic lighting project applies to the intersections of Brackett and Margaret, Keith and Rudolph Road. And again, we're told the lights will be operational by the end of this month.
