Marquette pays tribute to alum killed by ISIS

MARQUETTE (WKOW) -- Marquette University is paying tribute to one of its alums who was killed by the terror group ISIS.

An artist is painting a portrait of James Foley at the school's Raynor Library.

The journalist was kidnapped in Syria in 2012 and beheaded in August.

The portrait is part of Mission Week at Marquette.

"James cared a lot for telling the stories of people who couldn't on their own behalf, so we felt this was an appropriate way to incorporate his story into our Mission Week this year," says Andy Brodzeller.

Foley's family has also established a scholarship at Marquette.

The first one will be given out next year to a freshman majoring in journalism.
