Eau Claire (WQOW) - If one dollar buys five meals, imagine how many people will be fed with more than $17,000 dollars!
That's how much was donated to Feed My People Food Bank on Tuesday. The check was given by Chilson Subaru of Eau Claire. It was the result of Subaru's "Share the Love Event" that ran from Thanksgiving to the end of the year. Anyone that bought a car during that time, had the option of donating $250 to the charity, which they did nearly 70 times. It was a nationwide event, but individual dealers were given the option of which local charity to choose.
"We had learned about the organization and the work that they do and the fact that they effect so many counties in our area and it just seemed like a logical fit for us,” said Jeanne Chilson, Owner of Chilson Subaru.
“We're very excited, we live in a very generous community and we're very grateful to Chilson and Subaru for their support," said Suzanne Becker, Assistant Director of Feed My People Food Bank.
Chilson Subaru plans to continue to donate to Feed My People Food Bank as a part of the annual "Share the Love Event”.
