Eau Claire (WQOW)- The Seahorse Inn changed hands only a week ago, and the new owners are already making waves.
The former karaoke bar has been a hot spot for the people of Eau Claire for 50 years, but soon it will be converted to offices for the local real estate company, Live in Eau Claire.
But that's not all they're opening. With their private offices kept on the first floor, the owners plan on reopening the restaurant upstairs. Owner of the company Chase Collins purchased the Inn, and said it was the perfect location for their expanding company.
"Back in the sixties when it opened, a lot of organizations used to have meetings here, there were a lot of weddings here, a lot of receptions here. So it already had the raw bones of what you would want for an event center or a venue, we just need to bring it back to life now," said Collins.
The restaurant will be called The Varsity Club, and will provide a networking spot for local businesses and professionals, while maintaining a laid back atmosphere.
Although owners are just beginning to think of themes and designs, they plan on turning to social media to help make the decision.
"I really want to get other people's input before I just say this is what we're going to do. I really want the community to feel like this is their place they helped design it," Collins said.
They plan on posting different ideas on the Live in Eau Claire Facebook page in order to get feedback from their future customers. One focus they do already have, however, is serving food and drinks made with locally grown ingredients.
Owners plan on having the real estate offices open by October 1st. The restaurant planning will continue throughout the year, with major renovations happening in the spring of 2016.
