Creation of TIF 11 gets green light from Eau Claire city council
Eau Claire (WQOW)- The Eau Claire city council has approved another controversial Tax Increment District.
In Tuesday's council meeting, members had a short debate leading their 8-3 vote in favor of creating TIF District 11. This new district includes the Lismore Hotel, which is nearly finished with an extensive remodeling project. The approval also lead to a vote on changing the boundaries of TIF District 10. Council members also passed this 8-3.
Also on Tuesday's agenda was voting on purchasing property near I-94 and Cameron Street, which was unanimously passed by council members. Although there is no current plan for the piece of land, it could be used for a new I-94 interchange. Some council members believe building a new exit off of I-94 would funnel traffic in to downtown Eau Claire.
