Menomonie (WQOW) -- Like UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout is still searching for its first WIAC football win of the season.
The Blue Devils kept it close last week in La Crosse, before losing to the Eagles, 28-21. UW-Stout has lost three of the last four matchups to UWEC, so the Blue Devils' goal this year is to reclaim the War on 94 Trophy.
"I think any win we will take and not just the first win, you know it's going to be a tough game," says UW-Stout head coach Clayt Birmingham, "we've got a lot of respect for Eau Claire, good football program. We are both kind of in the same boat, both kind of rebuilding a little bit, playing with some youth and some injuries so I think we match up real good."
"I mean, you're 20 minutes away, you know a lot of kids know each other," says Blue Devils senior quarterback Hank Kujak, "a lot of kids on both teams were recruited by both schools, just so happened some kids went to one school some went to the other, and I think its a fun rivalry, I don't think there's a lot of hate, it's just your neighboring school and I think it's just a way to get an edge on one for the year."
Saturday's game between UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire is a 6:00 P.M. kickoff at Carson Park. It will be the 93rd meeting all-time between the two schools.
