Eleva (WQOW) - For anyone that has driven south on Highway 93, things go from scenic to spooky real quick.
From the tops of their trees to the shadows below, there's hardly a blank space outside Steve and Wendy Eckwright's home.
“It's just our favorite holiday and it's a nice time of year to decorate,” Steve said.
It's a task as grueling, as a goblin's grave. The Eckwrights said it takes about three weekends to decorate their yard. They also said they believe they have close to 1,000 decorations total.
“We get it from everywhere... thrift sales, auctions, stores, friends find things for us, family finds things for us," Wendy told News 18. "If they think it's something, ooh, one of my friends found a goat skull in the woods, a real goat skull. He picked it up and says, 'oh, I know where this is going,' and it's here in my yard."
After 25 years of practice, their yard couldn't be more perfect for pictures.
“It's the look on the faces of the kids on Halloween night,” Wendy added, “When they come by and you know they make the comments and they're running around in the yard and how cool it is and that's all worth it to us.”
Halloween night the Eckwrights will add fog machines, music, and even a campfire for the enjoyment of all who stop by.
