Eau Claire (WQOW) - The search begins for a new city manager, and it has Eau Claire asking residents for their input.
On Wednesday, the city released an online survey asking the community to provide feedback on what it would like to see in the next city manager. News 18 spoke with Councilwoman Catherine Emmanuelle, who said a position profile was created in addition to the job description for the vacant position.
Emmanuelle said the position profile includes four categories, like professional skills they'd like to see in the next city manager and how he or she will work with council members, city employees and the community. She said community feedback will help council members in the process of forming interview questions in the next few weeks.
"I think it's important for employees and the community to feel like they are part of the process,” Emmanuelle added. “Ultimately, it does come down to council's judgment and council's decision on who the next city manager will be, and along the way we can be intentional about being inclusive and hearing community voices."
Emmanuelle said the survey will run through Nov. 18. She said the city will be accepting job applications through the end of November, and that council could select a new city manager as early as mid-December, with the new city manager starting on Jan. 1.
