Eau Claire (WQOW) - More than 14 area companies are joining together to form the Chippewa Valley High-Tech Alliance.
The idea to form an alliance came after several companies realized they shared the same need: to attract the best talent. Companies like Applied Data Consultants, JAMF, and Cray are constantly looking for people skilled in web software, engineering and programming. They want students and job seekers to know, they don't have to look to the Twin Cities, or California to work in cutting edge jobs in their field.
The alliance also plans to spread the word to area economic development organizations and other chambers of commerce.
"So that they're aware, so that as they're looking to expand and bring other high tech companies to the area they can have like a one stop shop,” said Jim Ward, the president at Applied Data Consultants. “To say hey we can reach out to the alliance and let them talk to this new company that looks to be coming into town, maybe to create jobs because they can talk to us about different things."
The new group became official on Tuesday during a press conference at Volume One.
