Eau Claire's downtown confluence project received another big donation over the weekend. The Ruder Ware law firm and its attorneys pledged $150,000 to support construction of the arts center portion of the project.
According to a representative of the firm, the gift includes individual commitments as well as a discount in legal services provided by Ruder Ware since the Confluence Project was announced in 2011. They say, in recognition of the long-time service of attorney David Anderson, an area of the arts center will be named in his honor.
The pledge is part of the "It's Time" community campaign. If $500,000 in pledges and gifts can be raised by the end of this month, an anonymous donor will pledge another $1 million. The campaign has already raised $400,000.
As for the overall fund raising campaign, almost $11 million has been raised. The goal is $13.5 million. Groundbreaking for the arts center half of the Confluence Project is set for next spring. The mixed-use portion is already under construction.
