Eau Claire (Monk's Bar & Grill News Release) - Monk’s is heading out of Southern Wisconsin to establish its fifth location in Eau Claire, Wis. Tom Heller, CEO and President of the franchise, and local owner Ryan Poppenga have already started the re-construction of the Monk’s Bar & Grill location at 3560 Oakwood Mall Dr. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for late March 2016, just before Monk’s will open to the public.

A variety of tap and bottled beer, specialty cocktails and Monk’s own signature drinks will be offered as well.
Monk’s has been serving exceptional food and providing outstanding service for 69 years. Monk’s is a favorite among Midwest residents. The Wisconsin State Journal has stated, “The (Monk’s) burgers have taken on somewhat of a legendary status in Sauk County.”
“We are so excited to bring the authentic Monk’s experience to the Eau Claire area. We love the community and can’t wait to become more involved,” new franchise owner Ryan Poppenga stated.
”In addition to providing exceptional service and quality food, we pride ourselves on our community involvement. We are looking forward to serving and getting to know the Eau Claire and surrounding communities. One of our focuses will be community involvement and hosting fundraisers for various organizations in the area. We know Eau Claire will be proud to be home to a Monk’s Bar & Grill,” said owners Ryan and Amber Poppenga.
Monk’s Bar and Grill was founded in 1947 by Gustave ‘Monk’ Adolph Heineke and his wife, Helen. Their first location was downtown Wisconsin Dells, where the original location still thrives today. In 1982, seven years after Monk’s passing, Helen sold the bar to Tom and Jane Heller who continue to hold on to the tradition and have expanded and developed the business to remain competitive in today’s market. Heller has successfully opened three additional Monk’s Bar & Grill restaurants.
Monk’s in Eau Claire will be the franchise’s fifth restaurant. Ryan and Amber Poppenga have been in the restaurant business for more than 10 years and have owned and operated their own restaurant for the past 9 years.
