(WQOW) -- The UW Eau Claire Women's Swim Team is looking to make a splash at the National level. Eau Claire's Sam Senczyszyn has dominated her events this season, and is the top seed in both the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes ahead of DIII Nationals. The Freshman sensation set a DIII National Record in the 200 Breaststroke at this year's WIAC Championships with a 2:12.20, and headlines a deep Blugold squad, which includes fellow Freshman Jessica Short and Senior sprinter Allie Hable.

"I'm super excited for the meet," Freshman Sam Senczyszyn said. "I've swam in the pool before, so I'm kinda  familiar with it, so, I'm kinda hoping for the best here, I'm seeded first in the 200 and the 100 [Breaststroke]." Senczyszyn is the Blugolds' number one scoring opportunity at the meet, and will be essential to their relay placement as well.

Another key cog in the Blugolds' arsenal is Freshman Jessica Short. Though currently on the edge of scoring position, the Backstroker is trying to move up for the good of the team. "We're just trying to score as many points as we can," Short said. "[We need to] place as best as we can as a team, so it's all about scoring points for the group."

Finally, Senior Allie Hable will be the emotional rock for this squad, as this is her third straight National Meet. Last year, she was the only qualifier from Eau Claire, and finished 8th in the country in the 50 Freestyle. Hable looks to improve upon that performance, as she is currently seeded 7th overall, but looks to the relays for excitement and momentum. "I'm excited for the 50 and excited for another chance, but I'm really pumped for those relays and I get alot of energy from watching the other women swim fast," Hable stated. "I know that they're going to kill it."

This year's Women's Team have a chance to be the highest scoring squad in the history of the program - the ladies begin their Nationals competition this Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
