Lake Hallie disturbance call leads to 11th OWI offense


Lake Hallie (WQOW) - Law enforcement responded to verbal altercation at the Badger Motel in Lake Hallie Sunday night that lead to an OWI arrest for an 11th offense.

According to a news release, a Lake Hallie Police officer responded to a report of verbal altercations between residents in two rooms. While officers were responding to the report at the motel, it was reported some subjects left in a red Buick. The vehicle was observed entering the Hallie Wal-mart parking lot.

The officer located the male driver and passenger when he parked his car. During the conversation the officer noted the strong odor of intoxicants on the driver’s breath. The driver admitted to have been drinking and stated he "had a couple". Field Sobriety test were conducted and the officer felt that he failed those tests.

Keith A. Bondie, 56, of Lake Hallie, was arrested for Operating While under the Influence, 11th offence. A search of Bondie’s person located a zip lock bag that contained a small amount of marijuana in his left cargo pocket. A marijuana pipe was also located in the Bondie's left cargo pocket.

Bondie was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for the legal blood draw. The results of the blood test will not be known for several weeks as it will be sent to the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.

Bondie was then transported and released to the Chippewa County Jail where he was released to jail staff. Bondie was issued a Village Ordinance citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as well as possession of Marijuana.
