16 year old boy dies in fatal crash in Pierce County

Pierce County (WQOW) -

On Tuesday, at approximately 5:37 p.m. the Pierce County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two vehicle crash in front of W10417 County FF in Clifton Township.

According to the Pierce County press release, a 2001 Ford Focus was heading eastbound on County Road FF, when it struck the gravel and over corrected into the westbound lane, colliding with a 2011 Ram truck, driven by Joseph Martin Timmers, age 61 of St. Paul, MN. The two vehicles collided in the north ditch and started on fire. 

Witnesses assisted the driver of the Ford Focus, Tyler James Orpen, age 16 from River Falls, WI, who was transported to the River Falls Area Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said the release. Timmers was able to exit his vehicle on his own and was transported to Regions Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The crash is still under investigation and News 18 will update you as more information becomes available.
