An 11-year-old boy from Ringle had the shot of a lifetime Saturday when he brought down a 16-point buck at the youth deer hunt.
"It was unexplainable, it's just excitement over the roof," said Jake Glapinski, who shot the deer.
A 16-point buck is bigger than some people will bring down in their lifetime. For Jake, it was his very first time gun deer hunting.
"I was crying I was so excited, I would have been crying either way if I missed him or I got him, so I was really excited," said Jake.
Jake was out hunting in Hatley with his dad, Randy, when the big buck came into their view.
"The biggest buck I've seen in the wild, personally, he was pretty fortunate to get a crack at him," said Randy Glapinski. "I was pretty shocked at the size of it, when it stepped out it was no doubt it was one that we wanted."
A gun shot later and the buck was theirs.
"It's definitely a rarity for sure," said Randy.
Jake and his family will be bragging about the buck for years to come. They plan on mounting the antlers and hanging them in the family's kitchen.
