Eau Claire (WQOW) - Finding a cure is the goal for an annual walk in Eau Claire, and step by step they are getting closer to doing just that.
Saturday was the 8th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk downtown. WQOW's Nick Grunseth and Jesse Yang were proud to serve as emcees of the event.
Nearly 600 people participated, hoping to raise $55,000 to aid in research to find a cure for the disease. David Lardinois with the American Cancer Society said this is the only event of its kind in the area, and it is important to donate because breast cancer is common in our area.
"The number one reason why folks reach out to the American Cancer Society is related to breast cancer," Lardinois said. "We recognize that need, and we created an event just for breast cancer services."
