Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month. A walk took place Saturday at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls to remember babies who died either during pregnancy, or shortly after birth.
HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital hosted the event, which brought out dozens of people to walk, and place a flower in to the river as a remembrance. They say the walk is a great way for people with similar experiences to share their stories.
"It is a healing experience," said Ashley Rawlings. "It gets people to get together, talk about everything that has happened, talk about their experiences, and revisit those events that happened and feelings they've had. Just remember their lost ones."
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says 23,000 infants died in the United States in 2014.
