Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Ahead of Veterans Day next week, one local nursing and rehab center is honoring their vets service in protecting our country.
On Thursday morning, Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls held its annual veterans salute, honoring nine residents and staff members with a plaque that told their story of military service. Amber Mitra, the activities director at Chippewa Manor, said more than 130 people attended Thursday's event for a free breakfast, an airplane flyover, an honor guard presentation with a gun salute and taps, as well as a video presentation focusing on why we celebrate Veterans Day.
"Sometimes, I don't think we say, 'Thank you', enough to those men and women who have served for us,” Mitra said. “We should thank them all year around, all the time."
Chippewa Manor started its annual veterans salute in 2009. Mitra said the nursing and rehabilitation center has honored more than 90 resident and staff veterans in that time. Veterans Day is on Friday, November 11.
