Wausau (WAOW) - With winter fast approaching, roads and highways across the state will soon be covered in snow that could potentially cause hazards for all motorists.
Sergeant Dan Gruebele of the Wisconsin State Patrol has some advice for millions of residents looking to hit the roads this winter.
"Motorists really need to increase their space between vehicles," Gruebele said. "They really need to increase that distance because stopping distance is going to increase incredibly."
Gruebele also said that just because a car is better in the snow, does not mean you should not use extra caution.
"People shouldn't get overconfident in a four-wheel-drive vehicle," he said.
Gruebele also advises drivers to do regular checks on tires and wind shield wipers before Wisconsin's winter is in full swing.
