Janesville lone school district with seat belts on buses
Wausau (WAOW) - The tragic incident in Tennessee has some wondering, should school buses be required to have seat belts?
The Janesville School Districts in Wisconsin is the only district in the state that has seat belts on its buses. It was a decision made seven years ago by the school board.
"If you have an opportunity to save a life or prevent a serious injury by using a seat belt, or having that seat belt available to someone, I think that's a good reason to have it," said Patrick Gaspar of the Janesville School District.
Critics argue that seat belts may be ineffective or even hazardous. Another challenge they pose is the cost to install the seat belts.
