Medical malpractice lawsuits settled in Eau Claire sex assault case
Former Eau Claire pediatrician David Van de Loo
Eau Claire (WQOW) - A former Eau Claire pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting young male patients has settled lawsuits filed by more than two dozen of them.
Online court records show 26 former patients of former doctor, David Van de Loo, have agreed to settle their medical malpractice cases without a trial. Terms of the settlements were not available.
Van de Loo originally faced criminal charges of sexually assaulting patients back in 2012. But a jury found him not guilty in 14 cases and deadlocked on two others. The civil lawsuits settled this week bring those cases to an end, too.
Attorney Chris Messerly, who represents many of the former patients, refused to comment on the settlements when contacted by News 18 Wednesday.
