Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Chippewa Falls. Irvine Park's Christmas Village opened on Thursday.
The city has been working on the display for more than a month. Staff said it takes about 100,000 lights to make the Christmas Village happen year after year and they add new displays every year, as well.
The lights came on at 5 p.m. Thursday and is open for people to walk through until 6:30 p.m.
For people looking for a warmer, easier adventure through the village, the park is open to traffic after 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. The lights will be up until New Year's Day.
The Christmas Village is free to walk through, but the city says donations are appreciated. There will be a 5K fundraiser on Saturday, November 26 to keep the lights shining. Follow the link for more information about registration.
