Eau Claire crews say Germania Street house fire caused $45,000 in damages

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Fire officials say a structure fire in Eau Claire caused $45,000 in damages.

A call came in Monday afternoon at about 3 p.m. for an Eau Claire home on Germania Street that caught fire. Eau Claire Fire and Rescue, along with police, responded to the scene. Fire officials say the fire was contained to the kitchen and was quickly put out by firefighters. 

Officials say no one was at home at the time of the fire. Crews estimate that the structure suffered $25,000 in damage, with another $20,000 in damage to possessions. 

Roads around the Germania Street home were closed for roughly two hours while crews battled the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

- A house fire may have affected some people's commute near downtown Eau Claire.

A call came in Monday afternoon at about 3 p.m. for an Eau Claire home on Germania Street that caught fire. Eau Claire Fire and Rescue, along with police, responded to the scene.

Authorities said no one was hurt, but roads were closed at Birch and Putnam streets, as well as Germania and Division streets, for more than one hour.

Officials said the fire it out, and all roads have reopened.

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire fire crews are on scene of a house fire on the 500 block of Germania Street in Eau Claire.

According to a tweet from the Eau Claire Police Department, traffic is blocked off between Putnam and Farwell streets.
