Eau Claire (WQOW) - Four charges of child neglect were filed Thursday against an Eau Claire woman after a police investigation Wednesday.
Police were notified by a day care center that Rochelle Weissinger came to their facility Wednesday with two of her children, ages one and three.
Staff reported she was having hallucinations and said people were following her. It was believed she was possibly on meth and cocaine.
The day care center said she later returned, but left the kids in her car for at least 30 minutes. The temperature outside was 38 degrees.
When police went to her home, her other children, ages five and six, arrived home from school, but could not get into the home because the door was locked.
Police then forced their way in, finding Weissinger unresponsive and breathing so slowly, they thought she was not breathing at all.
Police said she eventually admitted using coke and meth early that morning, and consuming alcohol later. They also found a bottle of whiskey, and numerous half-smoked cigarettes, all within reach of the children.
Weissinger will be in court in December.
