Milltown (WQOW) - A prominent member of a western Wisconsin community charged in a bizarre child abuse and sexual assault case will be sentenced in January.
A plea bargain was reached Wednesday in Polk County for Virgil Hansen. He serves as the town clerk in Milltown, and was a longtime member of the fire department there. Hansen was charged two years ago with torturing and sexually assaulting a young teenage boy by hanging him by his feet and calling him 'slave'.
Hansen admitted to tying the boy up, but denied sexually assaulting him, and told detectives he thought it was a mutual game they were playing.
Hansen pleaded no contest Wednesday to child abuse causing harm, and causing mental harm to a child, in return for dismissal of child sexual assault, enticement, exploitation, and trafficking.
He will be sentenced January 29.
