Eau Claire (WQOW) - Home of the free, because of the brave. Friday ceremonies began around Eau Claire honoring members of our military on the eve of Veterans Day.
Minnesota Wire of Eau Claire specializes in making different wires and cables used in the military, but Friday the factory was less about manufacturing, and more about honoring the men and women defending the flag.
Dozens of veterans and their families joined other area residents for food, music and remembrance at the 10th annual Veterans Day Barbecue.
"You've got to either do one of two things in life," said Minnesota Wire employee Brian Wagner. "You either have to do the work, or you've got to support the people that do the work. My father who was in Korea twice instilled that in us as a family, and Minnesota Wire has adopted Veterans Day as our community celebration to honor those who have served."
There are several other Veterans Day events taking place in the Chippewa Valley. You can find a list here.
