Eau Claire (WQOW) - On the day before Veterans Day, Congressmen Ron Kind met with Chippewa Valley veterans on Friday to hear their stories and recognize them.
Congressmen Kind held a town hall meeting in Eau Claire for vets to discuss their thoughts and concerns with Kind.
Some issues addressed included services for veterans and how to decrease veteran homelessness.
Ron Kind said these are issues he strongly fights for not only in Wisconsin, but for our entire country.
"That's why I'm having these forums throughout Wisconsin during Veterans Day, to get feedback from out veterans into what that transition is like, what hurdles and obstacles they've had to overcome, and how our nation can be more supportive to reintegrating them back into a successful life," Kind said.
Veterans said they are happy Kind took time to meet with them on Friday to show his support.
"Representative Kind has been amazing in his support of veterans throughout his career," said John Urice. "He's very much aware of the needs and how varied they are. Some of us left Vietnam with emotional issues, others of us have many serious injuries, and needs, and he has been a tremendous advocate."
One way Kind is getting veterans' voices out in the public is through his Veterans History Project. Vets can videotape their personal stories, which then are shared nationwide.
This year marks the 17th year of the project.
