Eau Claire (WQOW) - -

After a frigid morning where Eau Claire tied a record low of 3° first set in 1986, a warm front will bring a weekend warmup. Snow has formed along that front and will move through overnight.

Timing: Stormtracker 18 Weather Meteorologists are expecting accumulating snow to begin Friday night, with most accumulations occurring overnight. Light snow will linger into Saturday morning with a possibility of a wintry mix south of highway 10 before precip ends midday.

Totals: Snow from a half inch up to 2 inches likely for Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and the central part of western Wisconsin with the highest totals further north. Refer to the snowfall forecast totals map graphic posted with this story.

Winds: Breeze of 10-15 mph Friday night will reduce visibility overnight and could cause some blowing in open areas by Saturday morning, especially north of Eau Claire.

Travel impacts: Luckily, most of the impacts will be overnight from falling snow, but there will be snow slick spots on roads Saturday morning, especially north of highway 29 where more than 2" are possible
