Nearly 200 people claim sexual assault at Massage Envy in the US, Altoona manager reacts

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Massage Envy, the largest chain of massage franchises in the country, is reportedly facing allegations from more than 180 people claiming they were sexually assaulted at its locations.

"It is almost impossible for me to find the right words to express how violated I felt and how scared I was," said one of the victims.

The Buzzfeed investigation outlines disturbing claims of alleged assaults at franchise locations throughout the country.

According to Buzzfeed, Massage Envy claims in court documents that it is not liable for sexual assault at its franchised spas.

Massage Envy has nearly 1,200 spas, more than 20,000 massage therapists and more than one billion dollars in annual sales.

News 18 reached out to the Massage Envy in Altoona for comment, and Jereme Rauckman, the operations manager, said there have never been any allegations made against an employee at his clinic.

As for the allegations in general, Rauckman said "It's disgusting, and we will continue to commit ourselves to offering a safe space for our members and our guests."

Rauckman also said he believes the company's training and policies are among the most rigorous in the nation.
