Hudson, WI (WQOW) -

A skydiver from Minnesota pleaded guilty Monday to charges involved in an accident last July.  Karl Lips-Eakins admitted jumping from a cell phone tower in St. Croix County and landing on some power lines, where he suffered serious burns.  The incident knocked out power to 127 customers on July 29th.

In court Monday, one charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and Lips-Eakins was sentenced to one year's probation plus court costs of $243.  He was also ordered to pay restitution of $1732 for the damage he caused to the power lines owned by St. Croix Electric.

Lips-Eakins worked at Twin Cities Skydiving in Baldwin, Wisconsin.  When deputies interviewed him in the hospital, he reportedly told them he thought it would be fun to jump from the cell phone tower.
