The Mosinee School District is looking at a possible change to the mascot and the logo. Currently, Mosinee is known as the Indians and the logo is a block 'M'. For years, the school district has phased out the use of the word Indian in the logo and the caricature.
"Caricature has been phased out for quite some time," said Mosinee athletics and activities director Zach Zebro.
A group of students have been looking at a way to come up with a new school mascot. The school board approved students to form a mascot committee.
"Students came forward, they initiated the desire for a mascot, for I guess a greater sense of identity for a mascot at events," said Zebro. "Something they could use openly and freely."
The student committee put a survey and video on Facebook for community members, alumni, staff and students to voice their opinion on a change and what they would like to see
Ultimately, the decision on whether the mascot and logo can be changed comes down to the school board, however their is no date set for a vote.
