Eau Claire (WQOW) - After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday is Giving Tuesday.
Among the many area organizations taking part is the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (ECAHMAA), which assists the Chippewa Valley's Hmong population to be economically, educationally, and socially self sufficient. The agency provides services that are linguistically and culturally specific to the needs of Hmong families.
So far this year ECAHMAA has given out 20,000 pounds of food. But the non-profit helps anyone in the area, not just our Hmong population.
"One thing we really like doing here at ECAHMAA is making sure that the local gifts are given here and stay here in the community," said Sarah Klenz, director of program development for the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association. “We are helping our community make sure that not only are we feeding our families, but we're making sure that everybody in the community has a full belly."
And a small donation can feed a lot of bellies. A $20 donation can help supplement three months of rice for a family of six.
Of course you can donate to ECAHMAA all year round, but since they're partnered with the official Giving Tuesday campaign, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Paypal are matching any funds raised on Tuesday.
