Olympic hopeful inspires students in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth has a dream of competing in the 2018 Olympic games. It's a dream he has worked long and hard for, and he wants students in Eau Claire to do the same with their life goals.

Korey Dropkin was at Delong Middle School Wednesday motivating students to do the best they can in everything they try while promoting curling at the same time.

Dropkin is trying to make the 2018 Olympic curling team. He told students everyone has a unique talent, and the only way to find out what that is, is by trying a variety of new activities. It's a message students took to heart.

"He told us to commit hard and try to do things and follow our dreams, and usually that's all mushy gushy and junk, but he actually did it, and he proved it was like an actual lesson that actually worked," said Delong student Keegan Naser. "I mean, he went to the Olympics once so I guess it pays off."

"It's a good thing to try a ton of different of extracurricular activities and sports and different things out during their life," Dropkin said. "That's really the only way they're going to figure out what they're good at and what they want to be when they grow up."

Curling isn't new to the Chippewa Valley. In fact, we have a curling club right here in Eau Claire.
