Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Faculty and staff from UW-Barron County were in Eau Claire on Thursday to learn a little more about their upcoming merger with UW-Eau Claire.
Earlier this month, the UW Board of Regents moved to realign two-year state colleges with nearby four-year UW campuses.
UWEC Chancellor James Schmidt hosted a forum Thursday afternoon where people could ask questions about the transitions and offer suggestions on how to make it as smooth as possible for students.
Officials from both schools said the union will give UW-Barron County some much needed stability after a number of reorganizations within the last two years.
"I think there's a little bit of fatigue, but there's a great deal of hope as well," UW-Eau Claire Chancellor James Schmidt told News 18. "What I've heard from faculty and staff is they finally feel like this is going to be a great bringing-together of campuses and that this might be the final reorganization for them."
The schools are set to merge on July 1 of next year.
