Familiar face takes over at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) -- There's a new, but familiar face at the helm of HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

This week, Charisse Oland stepped into her new role as president and CEO.

For the last five years, Oland has been working as the Rusk County Memorial Hospital CEO, but she's no stranger to the HSHS Western Wisconsin Division. In 2010, she served as Regional Director of Strategy and Business Development.

Oland said she's excited to be back in the Chippewa Valley and to begin working with the hospital's dedicated team.

"What they do better than anybody that excites me the most is, they serve all people. Regardless of income, regardless of payer source, regardless of insurance product," Oland told News 18. "You can trust, every time, that if you're going to come to HSHS and one of our providers, that you're going to be cared for no matter what you're needs are."

Oland also said she's faced numerous challenges during her decades-long career, like the ever-rising costs of health care and the shortage of caregivers for an aging population. She sad she's confident a generous community like the Chippewa Valley will help the hospital solve these problems together.
