Ice skating rink opens at Titletown District in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) -- With the snip of a ribbon, the Titletown District's inaugural Winter Jubilee is underway.

There may not be any snow on the ground, but the jubilee celebrates the opening of the new ice skating rink (skate rentals are available); the new bistro, 46 Below, where you can warm up with a hot chocolate and grab a bite to eat; and Rockwood Terrace event space right above the bistro.

Team and community leaders cut the ribbon on the winter park Thursday afternoon.

"We're going to turn Green Bay into a winter wonderland," said Mark Murphy, Packers President and CEO. "We're going to have people coming from all over the country to come here."

Ice skaters glided across the new rink, which offers a view of Lambeau Field. When you're finished skating, you can hop off the ice and sit by a fire to warm up.

Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance during the jubilee. A seven-minute light show reminiscent of Cinderella's Castle at Disney World turned the west side of Lambeau Field into a wreath wrapped, Christmas light framed, Plinko-playing, candy-filled toy store.

The Titletown District is located off Ridge Road on the west side of Lambeau Field.

Titletown Park opened earlier this year. It includes a playground, sports field, and fitness events.

Ariens Hill, the 46 foot tubing hill in the Titletown District, will open once weather conditions are right for making snow.

Murphy says they hope to start making snow in the next few weeks.

"We are rooting for cold, cold weather and snow so we can open the tubing hill here," Murphy says. "It’s been too warm. We need the ground to freeze."

There is an admission fee for using the ice skating rink and the tubing hill. Here are prices for skating:

Weekday: $5
Weekend: $7
Holiday/Gameday: $9
Community Night: $2

If you do not have skates, you can rent them at $5 a pair.
