On Saturday night, Santa was in Chippewa Falls for the 28th annual Bridge to Wonderland parade. But earlier that morning he was in Downtown Eau Claire for the 16th annual Christmas Time in the City celebration.
Outside the Eau Claire State Theater, guests were offered hot chocolate, cookies of all kinds and the chance to take a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. They could even catch a ride on a horse drawn carriage.
Hundreds celebrate the holidays downtown every year, but there's always something new to enjoy.
"This is the first year we've shut down the street and brought in the Visit Eau Claire trailer to have some live music. So, we are really excited about that," said Kyran Hamill, coordinator. "Next year we are actually looking forward to being in the Haymarket Plaza outside the confluence site and having our Christmas tree located there. We are always trying to find the best spot downtown to enjoy the holidays."
Because the activities were free for everyone, organizers also said the event is a great opportunity for visitors to spend their money at local shops downtown instead.
