Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Seven games into the regular season, the UW-Eau Claire Women's Basketball team is still perfect.

The Blugolds held off a late rally from Northwestern-St. Paul this past Saturday to move to 7-0, a big jump from starting 4-3 in 2016. A big reason for the team's success is the offense - the Blugolds are averaging 69 points per game, led by Eau Claire native Anna Graaskamp (18 ppg). She is part of a sophomore core that is powering UW-Eau Claire to a confident start in 2017.

"Last year we were playing from behind a lot, now we're playing out in front," says head coach Tonja Englund, "We're also playing against teams that are going to bring their best, and I think that's also a little bit of maturity from our group to understand that."

"I think the experience on our team definitely helps, we've got a couple of players who know what they're doing, who are able to stay calm out there," Graaskamp explain, "We came into the season hungry, we wanted to go on a roll and keep winning, so I think it's great that we're doing that, and we've got to focus on our next game and focus on our next opponent."

The Blugolds are back in action this Satuday, taking on Loras College in Iowa.
