Eau Claire (WQOW) - Jeremy Gragert, is declaring his candidacy for the District 3 seat on the Eau Claire City Council, according to a press release his campaign sent out Monday.
Gragert filed a declaration of candidacy Monday, and plans to submit petition signatures to have his name placed on the ballot for the 2018 Spring Election on April 3. District 3 has gone uncontested for years, with only one candidate on the ballot since 2007, according to Gragert. Kathy Mitchell currently holds the seat.
“As a council member, I will focus on helping citizens make a difference,” Gragert said. “For over 15 years I have helped push our city to take on new challenges and respond to the needs of citizens, and we have made progress to improve the city. To continue that momentum we need more opportunities for public engagement in local government, especially in the city budget process.”
Gragert, 36, is a 2005 graduate of UW-Eau Claire and a resident of the Third Ward. Gragert works as an independent contractor for Clean Wisconsin and the Chippewa Valley Museum, and is the northwest ambassador for the Wisconsin Bicycle Federation. Gragert also serves on the neighborhood association steering committee and the governance board for the Chippewa Valley Montessori Charter School.
