Eau Claire (WQOW) - Students from North High School were giving back Wednesday through their "giving tree" project.
Students and teachers donated gifts ranging in variety from food to common household items. This year, they collected more than 200 items. All were donated to the Beacon House, a homeless shelter for families and pregnant women.
"My favorite thing about the giving tree is just the opportunity to give back to the community, because it is just so important and everyone needs help now and again so it's great to give back. I think also the generosity of our school, I mean, even though people are in need and need to buy stuff for their own family, they're still willing to open their hearts and give to other people in the community," said North High School students Katrina Mousel and Liz Kuehl.
This is the second year the student council has hosted this event.
