Miami Gardens, Florida (WKOW) -- Head coaches Paul Chryst and Mark Richt meed the media one final time, Friday, prior to Saturday night's Orange Bowl game between Wisconsin and Miami.
The teams hold their final practices, and players won't meet the media again until after the game. This is the first meeting between the Badgers and Hurricanes since the 2009 Champs Sports Bowl, and back then, one of the big pregame story lines was Wisconsin's power versus the Miami's team speed.
This time around, there may be more similarities than differences. Both rank in the top fifteen in scoring defense, and both love to run the ball. Richt and Chryst say they expect the Orange Bowl to be very competitive and very physical.
"We haven't cornered the market on trying to play the game in a physical manner and trying to run the football and playing good defense," says Chryst, "you know, we haven't cornered that, so we expect it to be a heck of a challenge."
"They are a great team," says Richt about Wisconsin, "you don't win as many games as they win without being that type of a football team. I think it's going to be one heck of a battle."
Paul Chryst is 3-1 as a head coach in bowl games, 2-0 with the Badgers. Mark Richt is 10-5 all-time, 1-0 with the Hurricanes.
